Internship Vote Results
After careful consideration, the results of the council vote on receiving an intern for next year is in. We are excited to announce that it was a unanimous YES.
Financial Commitments
Payment methods
| One-time total |
$6525 |
| Weekly total |
$1820 |
| Monthly total |
$6804 |
| Indicated total |
$15,149 (all with names) |

|
| Intern cost (9-months) |
$11,620 [the recent, revised proposal] |
With this information, we have some buffer funds---to mitigate the risk of some intended giving not being realized due to a job loss or some unexpected event. And then, a couple of other people have indicated the possibility of additional funds if needed, above the Indicated total. So we are trying to be very conservative in the results figures. We will be very careful with the funds that have been pledged. Having some margin of funds pledged, above those needed, provides a safety net.
Results of Voting
The response from the congregation that attended the meeting was as follows. There were 42 responses received; of those, 28 (67%) indicated financial support (either a onetime gift or weekly or monthly support throughout the year) and 16 (33%) indicated they could offer $0 in support of an intern. Six people responded that they would be willing to serve on the Internship Committee and one of those was a person who was not able to offer financial support.
Next Steps
We will work with Wartburg Theological Seminary to determine the details and timeframe for this internship. We will make this information available as we receive it. We now ask that people prayerfully consider becoming a member of the Intern Committee, to help give direction to the activities of the intern.
We are all humbled and excited by the response from our congregation. Thanks to Gary for the excellent job he did in leading the Sunday morning meeting. It was VERY WELL attended and provided a format for frank and open discussion. Thanks to all congregational members who attended and made this a success.
